This week in writing we were searching for key words in non-fiction texts. Our class used the key words to make summaries of the main ideas. We read an article called 'Why does Jello Jiggle?' Everyone started brainstorming topics to research. In grade 5 social studies, we learned about the history of Canada and Samuel De Champlain. When he got to Canada, he had to make a shelter fast, before winter. He was the first one to make a trading route. The grade 6's learned the differences between cabinet ministers and MLAs. In grade 5 science we mixed liquids to see if they made a solution. We also layered liquids and learned that liquids can have different densities. We learned that water has a very strong surface tension, and rubbing alcohol doesn't. The grade 6's worked on trading cards on different planets.
